Axillary Hyperhidrosis - Miradry
Sweaty Armpits/Axillary Hyperhidrosis involves constant or excessive sweating of the underarms. This can lead some sufferers to shower throughout the day in an effort to avoid body odour and embarrassment. Constant wet patches under the arms can lead to social avoidance and some sufferers to frequently change their clothing.
Mr Bell has seen many patients over the past 15 years and can well appreciate the impact that excessive underarm sweating and/or body odour can have. Even though the response to ETS is excellent North Western Vascular has introduced MiraDry as the preferred option for the treatment of excessive underarm sweating and/or body odour.
Excessive underarm sweating (axillary hyperhidrosis) can hold sufferers back from enjoying everyday activities that others take for granted. A night out with friends can lead to worrying about whether sweating is going to spoil the evening. MiraDry is an oustanding treatment that will stop you having to constantly manage underarm sweating.
Are you tired of wearing baggy clothing to try and hide your underarm sweating, avoiding social activities or a night on the dance floor? North Western Vascular has the solution, MiraDry.
MiraDry has been used extensively in USA, Japan and NZ with approval from the FDA (USA) in 2011 and approval from TGA (Australia) in June, 2014. North Western Vascular is a fully accredited MiraDry practice.
MiraDry dramatically reduces sweating and/or odour by destroying the sweat and odour glands under the arms through the use of microwave energy, a form of electromagnetic energy. Sweat glands do not regenerate so when destroyed the response is long lasting. A dramatic reduction in sweating should be immediately noticed after the treatment. Most patients will require only one MiraDry treatment when performed at Level 5 however a second treatment may be required 3 months later for patients with severe hyperhidrosis and/or odour to acheive optimal results.
MiraDry is performed on site at North Western Vascular with little or no down time required. A Medical Certificate can be provided if required.
On the day of MiraDry, the fully accredited MiraDry practitioner will inject local anaesthetic and saline to the underarms to improve patient comfort. Once both sides have been injected treatment will commence. When treatment is completed, ice packs are applied to the underarms to help minimise swelling. The area can be tender, swollen and red for up to 2 weeks following treatment. This is temporary and will clear over time. Partial hair loss in the treated area may be long-term.
